Probably excludes Dell Outlet

The terms don’t exclude the outlet. They just say you have to spend at dell.com.au, and the outlet is under that domain. Ultimately, they are unlikely to be able to tell the difference anyway if the charge comes from the same merchant.

BTW, Shopback has a spend $200 get $20 challenge listed for me in the app, so try stacking with that too. The outlet is excluded, but it’s worth trying.

I guess it’s worth trying but I feel like it won’t work since the outlet is generally excluded from promotions like that.
Highly doubt the shopback one will even track but nothing to lose trying I suppose

@FireRunner: i bought 3 dell laptops through shopback and the outlet. got shop back on 1 and 2 apologies on the other 2. lost 100s on that one

Alternatively, estore at velocity has an increased points earn $1 = 8 velocity points until 30/6. For those collecting for flights redemption, this may be of better value.

Can confirm. Bought an Inspiron from outlet 2 weeks ago and received the statement credit

How is the build quality on the G3 gaming laptops?

Quality is good got 17 inch i7 144hz refresh.. got some weight.. runs games smooth. i did upgraded my ssd to 1tb evo plus
Fan noise & runs random sometimes doesnt bother me ..ppl complain about keyboard.. but havent got any problem on my side am happy
But if u can spend more wait for deals as they keep comin now & then i paid i think 1600 for new was 2400 or 2500

Anyone have current 13″ XPS with intell 11 gen and can provide comment? I have older one with 6th gen 4k touch….coil whine started..

Or is lenovo better with ryzen chips? Not gaming.

No coil whine on mine

For what it’s worth, I’ve got a 9310 with 11th Gen Intel.
6 months old, sleep mode freezes and overheats if plugged in to socket or a dell dock. Keyboard and track pad warped, likely due to swollen battery. I just haven’t had time to get onto them to organize a replacement.

I had a similar problem with an XPS 5-6 years ago, but all my other dells have been trouble free.

I was going to post this, but for G series laptops 120hz 250nit screens are low grade, and I advise against getting any of those

well unless you are planning to exclusively game on external monitors

otherwise G7 7700 is a good deal and a good screen, but then you are stepping into a different price category and there are brand new rivals on eBay sales, so..

Good point, make sure you look at the display specs. There’s even a 220nit 60Hz display on one of the laptops which sounds abysmal

Anyone can vouch for the refurbished laptop conditions from previous sales?

Brilliant quality, and combined with fantastic warranty!

I’ve purchased a number of times.
Great condition, you might notice a couple of minor marks/scratches to exterior but nothing terrible.
I bought a “scratch and dent” once and it a few light scratches to the lid and underside

Thanks OP. If you’ve got time, could you please tell me, as I’m a complete non-starter when it comes to PC hardware these days – is the 1650 GTX any good? Ideally, I’d like to be able to play both Skyrim, and Fallout 4 on very high graphics settings with lots of mods enabled. Would this do the trick do you think?

Yeah it should handle both those games on max graphics settings with mods well

Okay, great. Thanks so much for the reply!

I purchased mine back in November, after 2 months of very basic use I had motherboard issues and warranty was great they replaced the motherboard. 2 weeks after the service my USB ports stopped working and returned the unit. May be it was just bad luck for me.

Acer nitro 10300h, 8gb RAM, 3060 is $1230 (with shopback gc) at HN. Also get 150 bucks of in store credit to put towards logitech or astro /blue mic products. ALSO get a couple free games with the Intel promo. And its not refurbished.

You can get around 37MH/s mining with good temps – whereas there is no way to effectively recoup your costs with a 1650ti, gaming performance is acceptable (eons better than a 1650ti). Probably the best budget laptop deal at the moment if you don’t mind the lower end 10300h. If you like multitasking, 8gb RAM can be upgraded yourself as required.

Pretty different laptops. For someone just after an entry level gaming laptop this is a great bargain for $740 imo
If you want best value gaming laptop then sure that Acer Nitro sounds like a good deal.

Sure if your running old games on low settings and don’t care about mining (free money though) the 700 dollar ti is ok I guess.

Not where I’d be spending my money though.

running old games on low settings

A 1650Ti isn’t that bad lol. It’s decent for modern titles maybe around medium settings 1920×1080 @ 60FPS
See some benchmarks here

For a cheap powerful-ish 14″ this looks like great value. Have one silver and one ‘eden’ on the site.

Inspiron 14 5402 – Intel i7-1165G7, 16GB DDR-3200, 512GB NVMe, 14″ 300nits 1080p non-touch, 53wh battery for $789

How does the onboard graohics card compare to gtx1650

Haven’t checked specifically, but I would guess half the performance of a GTX1650 (which is near half that of GTX1660ti if IIRC), but twice the performance of 10th Gen intel iris iGPU. Can play 1080p AAA games as I have the same spec in my Inspiron 15.

Intel Iris XE is comparable to an Nvidia MX350.
A GTX1650 will destroy it

Yep. That machine is for portable productivity with decent battery life and a better screen than many budget machines with 300nits. For gaming look elsewhere

@TheLurker: It’s probably ok for esports and older titles. Definitely not for any modern AAA titles

@FireRunner: It does better than I expected for casual gaming, though that’s not its primary use of course.

This vid (first hit I found so you may find better) tests GTAV, Witcher 3, SotTR, Forza Horizon 4, Apex Legends, RDR2, Valorant, Fifa 21 on an Acer Swift 3 with same CPU/iGPU but only 8GB. Intel showed it playing Battlefield V at launch. Pretty current titles obviously at lower detail settings and expect 30fps which is bearable only

Great price for these specs IMO

If you’re after a 17”

$2,039.00 $1,459.00

Not that much more than an RTX 2070 GPU in today’s market. Good deal!

It was $1.6k a few weeks ago brand new.

On eBay. If you can’t wait, this isn’t a bad deal for $140 less, which you can upgrade the warranty. I got a dell refurb and it looked brand new untouched.

I was just about to post this. Great price for the specs.
Shame about the thermals on the Dell G series (I have a G5 15 and regularly shuts down from overheating).

I have one too, never has shut down..nor for my kids who sometimes play for hours

Picked up a XPS 9310 for the mother in law.

Got one a while back from the outlet for work, and its been mostly okay bar a bit of coil whine. Was tempted to go new with the OLED display but doubt the MIL will care, so 1080p for her 😉

Looking for a laptop to do some on-the-go live streaming/production with and eyeing between either one of the Dell refurb Tiger Lake i7’s for $700-800 or spending a bit extra on the Lenovo EOFY sale and grabbing a 5500U Ideapad/4700U Thinkpad for $1k. Thunderbolt and Iris XE seems nice but CPU wise the Ryzen just has more raw power?

If you are going to be doing some on the go live streaming/production, you are going to be limited by the quad cores on the Tiger Lake CPU. Intel marketing has been criticized online for heavily fudging their benchmarks by not showing an apples to apples comparison. Unfortunately Tiger Lake performance diminishes when the TDP is approximately 15w and this includes XE graphics, with unreliable drivers.

If you have access to an .edu email, you can get a Lenovo Ideapad 3 14″ with 5700U(8c/16t) CPU, 12GB RAM, 512 SSD, new for $854.10 with their EOFY promotion.

If your budget can go just over $1000, I would look at the Lenvo s540 13″ with a 4800U, QHD 99% SRGB screen, 16GB RAM and 512 SSD for $1106.

Don’t discount the value of build quality. The Thinkpad will be much better built and repairable than the other consumer grade rubbish.
OTOH isn’t there thunderbolt music peripherals now, I dunno, thats the main issue with Ryzen ATM

These are manufacturer refurbs?

Officially refurbs… but the one I got, and what many says, is that they are indistinguishable from brand new

Yes, Dell refurbishes them and sells directly through their outlet.

any 14inch laptops with 1660ti??

Looking for a laptop for parents ~$700 – any recommendations from here or otherwise? Mostly just looking for OK performance for Word Processing, general browsing, and a decent display (if possible).
